The Old Mill

The Old Mill at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park is a lovely sight to behold. The actual mill itself dates to 1828 and served the Cagle family for 3 generations. The millstones came from the Ashley County Plantation of Tom Knoble. The most exciting feature of this old mill, for me, is the fact that the Old Mill appeared in the opening credits of "Gone With the Wind" in 1939. It was this fact which sent me on my search for it, as I am an avid fan of GWTW. It took me 2 days to find the Old Mill, but it was worth it! The setting is lovely to behold and in truth, I did not capture a complete setting shot. However, in an odd coincidence, was also there this fall and captured the most lovely shot of the Old Mill and the unique bridge that is there. Please check out the shot of it in his gallery entitled "My Sangri-La II". I will also be posting a shot of the bridge but his is magnificent!
