My last Journal entry I told you about a new facility that I had found here in Indiana called Stapps Circle S Ranch. Unfortunately, when I found them they were in danger of closing. It was literally their very last days of being open when I went to visit.
I've good news to report!!!! For the time being, they are saved!!!!!!!!!! I do not yet know the details nor do I need to know; I just know that they are saved and not only that.....they are open for visitors even during the week again!
The little white tiger cub has now moved on to another home so I will not see him again. This is good news for him and bad news for me. However, the other litter guy is growing by leaps and bounds and is now ready for visitors! As I am on vacation this week, I hope to take my great niece down to visit him! Okay, yes, I want to see him again too!!!!
Plus, I named all of the unnamed elk on the property! It was just Quincy and the girls. Well, I didn't quite like the sound of that so I studied the 3 other elk gals and sent their photos down with names that I felt were appropriate. I am told that they have agreed to use them! I can't wait to see them again!
Anyway, the place is called Stapps Circle S Ranch and it's located in Greensburg, Indiana. Here is a link to their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/stapps.circle…; It's a small but wonderful place and I hope to see them really get back on their feet and be a thriving facility as they should be! If you're ever in the area, please stop by their place! And don't forget to go by downtown and see the famous tree growing out of the top of the Courthouse!!!! Trust me, you don't see that everyday!
That's all for now!

Loss of Joy
I find these days that a great deal of my joy in logging on to DA is missing because I know I will not find comments from dear David (Okavanga). Although we never met in person, I could always count on him to give me, not only humor which I needed, but great feedback and perspective on my photography. The last few yeas I have slowed down a great deal on my participation on DA and my followers and watchers have become fewer and fewer, which is fine. My audience was a unique one anyway. And commenters were usually few and good feedback was what I was looking for on this site; what worked, what needed to be refined. David was good at that a
I Did It.....I Went Back to Wolf Park!!!
Well DA friends....I did it! Monday was my Wolf Park day! I didn't think I was going to make it as I awoke with a migraine. But the weather was going to be so good and I knew that I just couldn't miss out. So I took it slow and treated the migraine as best I could. I was the last one to arrive but thankfully Monty Sloan was giving the behavioral instruction talk this time and as I walked in, he said "Ah, a familiar face!" which was so nice to hear. It had turned brisk here and I dressed warmly...too warmly as it turned out. I ended up sweating! Unlike my other visits, there were no happy wolves waiting for us to get inside....no, thes
I'm going to do it....I'm going back!
A very wise friend here on DA told me recently, (and I quote)....
"You carry their memories in your heart; the new generation will need to be cherished as well."
Words of wisdom from my friend David. I've listened to them.....and I'm going back!
I will return to a new generation on a photo seminar at Wolf Park in October. I hope I will be able to delight you all with stories of the new ones that I get to know....finally. I will never forget the past....one last one remains and I hope he lives until I get there....but there are others to love...right, David?
Time for a New Journal....
It's way past time for a new Journal. I can't bear logging on here and seeing "Another loss at Wolf Park".....but I don't really have anything to say. Life is busy as always. My photography takes spurts. I'm hoping to be out shooting more with hopefully better weather. A co-worker gifted me with a zoo membership as she realized that funds were tight and I might not be able to get one this year. I'm so very grateful for that. I'm thinking of going back to visit with the elephants again. And......I may sign up for a fall photography seminar at Wolf Park. It's time to get to know the youngsters up there and begin again with a new genera
